Your first days in season 1
Season 1 can easily be seen as a totally new chapter when you first login. The game shifts from a base-building tycoon, towards a strategic community-focused war game. The game changes drastically so let's go over the very basics to catch a flying start in season 1. In a future post, we will go more into depth on the different aspects that come with season 1.
Day 1
The first you will do when launching the game is get your new buildings sorted.
- Virus Research Institute
- Protein Farm
- Military Base

Build your Virus Research institute and your first Protein farm.
If you purchase the week pass, you will get an additional protein farm to build!
Level up your protein farm to level 10 to unlocked a second protein farm. Once the second protein farm reaches level 10, the third protein farm unlocks. Get the third protein farm to level 10 to unlock the forth and final protein farm.
After you've unlocked all 4 base protein farms, can you level each one up further!
Protein farms will start generating resource "Immune proteins" that you need to level up your Virus Research Institute. To do so, they require "Mutant Crystals".
These crystal can be acquired through the week pass or by killing zombies and boss rallies on the map. You will get mutant crystals for each first kill of a zombie level you complete. So start off at level 1 to kill off the new zombies and work your way up.
As with season 0, there are 3 different zombies, one for each troop type: tank, air and missile. Each level of zombies will require a certain amount of virus resistance. If you do not have the required virus resistance, you will deal less damage to the enemy and have a chance to get infected.

The standard rally boss "Doom Elite" has been replaced by a new stronger variant. Killing a doom elite requires the right amount of virus resistance. Do NOT engage the Doom Elite yourself if you do not have the required resistance, you can however join rallies of people that have the required resistance. The game only looks at the resistance of the rally leader and not all joiners!
What happens when you do not have enough resistance?
When you do not have the resistance required by the enemy, you have a change to get infected. We cover this entire mechanic and it's gamplay effects, uses and counters in this post.
